Our English Hub provides DfE-funded support to schools to strengthen early reading, language and literacy, from Reception through to secondary.
Primary: Early reading support (Reception–Year 1)
We offer tailored support for primary schools to strengthen early reading, phonics and Reading for Pleasure with a particular focus on children who need the most support.
Support may include:
- School-based audits of early reading provision
- Reading for Pleasure support, CPD and guidance
- Funding or match funding towards DfE-validated SSP programmes
- Follow-up support from our Literacy Specialist team
- Access to DfE-funded training and CPD programmes
- Becoming one of our Partner Schools and receiving sustained, ongoing support
- Support for pupils who need to catch up quickly

Secondary: Reading support (KS3)
We also support secondary schools to improve outcomes for pupils who are struggling to read fluently or access the wider curriculum.
Support may include:
- School-based audits of reading provision
- Funding towards reading resources and CPD
- Follow-up support from our Literacy Specialist team
- Signposting to DfE-funded CPD
- Supporting leaders to plan effective whole-school approaches
- Building staff confidence in supporting struggling readers
